Kindness Matters
Have you seen this face at the intersection of Main Street and Front Street?
If not, look for her. You will find Nancy each morning between 8 and 10 am, with a smile and a sign that reads “Kindness Matters.”
Nancy began standing at the busy downtown intersection in June 2020, when communities worldwide faced isolation, loneliness, and divisiveness.
She wanted to make an impact and wondered if it would help if she reminded people of a very easy, small thought that kindness does matter.
What she thought would be one day of standing on the corner with her smile, sign and waves turned into two years, as she returns to the spot daily to fuel the question, “What if everyone woke up every morning deciding to be kind?”
“The response has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Nancy, “I really hope when people see my sign; it resets their day.”
She said this act has given her more than anything she could have imagined.
We hope you find inspiration when you see Nancy. Be sure to give her a smile and wave when you drive by!
