Chicken Permits and Regulations
The Town of Ashland requires that residents, who wish to house and maintain chickens/barnyard animals, first obtain an Animal - Equine Permit from the Board of Health.
Applicants will need to complete a Permit Application which will be reviewed by the Board of Health. Assuming the application provides the Board with no concerns, an inspection will be conducted by the Animal Inspector. If approved, Permits will need to be renewed annually. Please note that the Ashland Animal Regulations DO NOT allow Roosters to be kept.
Permit applications and the full rules and regulation for keeping and maintaining these animals legally can be found on the Town of Ashland website on the Health Departments “Animal” page.
