Ashland Garden Club Welcomes Spring!
Spring is always an exciting time for everyone who welcomes the warmer weather and longer days.
Who doesn’t love watching to see what perennials made it through the freezing days and nights of Winger in New England and the excitement of planting new flowers once the days and nights warm the soil.
Spring is a particularly exciting time for members of the Ashland Garden Club. Mid -to-Late April is when we change the planters we plant and maintain around the downtown area from the sedate greens of Winter to colorful Spring plants (Fountain at Montenegro Square, Post Office, Community Center, Town Hall). We also add plants to the in-ground sites that the Ashland Garden Club plants and maintains (Library grounds, Post Office grounds, Clock Tower Garden, Community Center Garden). Enjoy these before and after photos of the fountain planter in Montenegro Square across the street from the Library and watch for this April’s plantings.
The Ashland Garden Club usually meets the second Saturday of September through June. Each May we hold our annual sale of plants that we dig out of our own gardens. This year’s plant sale is Saturday May 18, 9:00-12:00 at Montenegro Square.
We use the months of July and August rewarding ourselves by visiting each other’s gardens during what we call Wine in the Garden.
