Town employees run Boston Marathon

Ashland town employees Becca Navarro and Frank Masiella both ran in, and finished, the 2024 Boston Marathon last month.

Navarro is a civil engineer in the town’s Department of Public Works. She was running to raise funds for Ashland’s Boston Athletic Association Grant. On her runner’s page, she says, “Running has always been a big part of my life. I was a hurdler for the UMass Lowell track team and then spent some time running for the Greater Boston Track Club after college. I don’t consider myself much of a long-distance runner, but running the Boston Marathon has always been on my racing bucket list. In 2020 we moved our family to Ashland, my husband’s hometown, where I now work for the Town’s Department of Public works as a Civil Engineer. I’m excited for this incredible opportunity to give back to my community and to run the Boston Marathon.”

Masiello is a Detective with the Ashland Police Department. He was running for Cops for Kids with Cancer. On his pledge page, he says, “As a child I grew up in Framingham and watched the Boston Marathon every year. I never thought I’d run it. On April 15, 2024, I will be running my 14th consecutive Boston Marathon and my 11th Boston Marathon in support of Cops For Kids With Cancer. Cops For Kids With Cancer is an amazing charity that provides financial assistance to children and their families as they battle cancer.”
